Kids in Computer Lab
Founded by Former Product Director at Google and Senior Tech Lead at Apple and Uber, Create & Learn offers an amazing Online Coding Classes for Children in Grades K - 10.  Your child can learn to build games, stories, animation, and control robots through an interactive hands-on curriculum.  Class meets once a week for 4 weeks.  Choose the right course based on your child’s age and interest.  All you need is a reliable computer with audio and video.
**Chromebooks are not supported for Minecraft Coding Quest

Minecraft Coding Quest Units 1&2 - Grades 3-5
Does your child enjoy playing Minecraft? Minecraft: Education Edition is built on top of the regular Minecraft game and includes additional features to teach kids coding and other STEM skills. It promotes creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving in an immersive environment, where the only limit is imagination.

In these carefully designed classes, we cover a broad set of coding concepts. We start by introducing kids to the very basic concepts of stacking commands together to make computers accomplishing tasks - the fundamentals of coding. Kids will control agents to solve puzzles while interacting with different in-game characters. We will then move on to learn core coding concepts such as loop, operations, conditional, events, function, variables, and more. As students get more comfortable with these coding skills, they will also start building more complex structures as well as mini-games through coding. With our inquiry-based approach, your kids will have plenty of opportunities to not only learn but also create!

Prerequisites: For students who are new to coding, we recommend taking Ninja 1 and 2 first before taking this class.
Requirements: Students must have a laptop or desktop device with Zoom, a Chrome browser, and high Internet connectivity. Windows or Mac Computer (Chromebook is not supported).

Junior Robotics 1 Unit - Grades 2 – 4

This first unit will introduce students to the basics of VEX Code and programming in 3-D. Students will learn how to navigate robots through virtual worlds and complete exciting maze challenges! In the second unit, students will practice navigating robots through even more complicated virtual worlds full of obstacles by making use of sensors. Moreover, students will learn how to make robots transport objects and see how these topics are important in real-world scenarios!
Prerequisites (Intermediate Level): Scratch coding experience and familiarity with basic coding blocks are recommended but not required.
Requirements: Students must have a laptop or desktop device with Zoom, a Chrome browser, and high internet connectivity.

Circuit Wizards - Intro to Arduino Units 1-3
Students will learn the basics of electronics as they create circuits, use resistors, and get introduced to Ohm's law, while building a series of cool projects and experiments. We will also code Arduino to start building smart devices that can sense it's environment and respond accordingly. Build more sophisticated circuits for smart devices, code breakers, and games using Arduino. Learn more advanced electronic concepts such as digital vs analog and control servos and sensors. Each class is full of excitement and brand new topics that most students rarely have access to. Students will also sharpen their coding skills and even tap into a bit of text-based coding to get ready for more advanced coding classes.
Prerequisites (Intermediate Level): Scratch coding experiences and familiarity with basic coding blocks are highly recommended but not required.
Requirements: Students must have a laptop or desktop device with Zoom, a Chrome browser, and high internet connectivity.

Mobile Coding for Apps and Games Units 1 & 2 - Grades 4-7
Students learn the core building-blocks of web pages, including HTML and CSS, as well as how the Internet works. Students will build their very first fan website on some of their favorite things. By the end of the class, we will also have interacted with the latest tools that will help them build web pages faster. In the second class of the series, students start to learn Javascript and build websites with dynamic content and interactions with viewers. We will create web apps using Javascript and also use the newly acquired skills to improve the fan site from level 1.
Prerequisites: Advanced courses are best for students who are very confident with block-based coding
Requirements: Students must have a laptop or desktop device with Zoom, a Chrome browser, and high internet connectivity.
