Sessions consist of eight, 30-minute classes with one day focusing on basic water safety skills. Children should be able to perform all skills of the previous level before moving on to a higher level. Instructors may move children to a different level class if the child is unable to participate in the skill level of the registered class. Please contact the Aquatics Supervisor if health conditions warrant additional accommodation for participation.
**Lessons labeled "INCLUSIVE" are inclusive for participants with disabilities who do not need individual one on- one instructions**
Guppies 1
Requirements: Ages 3-5 years old.
Skills: Designed to teach water safety and introduction to basic swimming skills. This includes submerging, floating, kicking, bobbing, and using their arms on both the stomach and back.
Guppies 2
Requirements: Ages 3-5 years old. Must have successfully completed the skills for Guppies 1. Must be able to fully submerge their heads and are comfortable with the water.
Skills: This course works on floating and introduces combined stroke (arms/legs) on both the stomach and back.
Guppies 3
Requirements: Ages 3-5 years old. Must have successfully completed Guppies 2 skills. Must be comfortable with underwater swimming, able to float unsupported, and swim by themselves for 10 yards on both their stomach and back.
Skills: This course will continue with combined stroke on stomach and back, introduction of elementary back stroke, and deep-water skills.
Minnows 1
Requirements: Ages 6-7
Skills: Designed for non-swimmers. Intro to water safety and basic swimming skills. Includes submerging, floating, kicking, bobbing, and alternate arm action.
Minnows 2
Requirements: Ages 6-7. Must have successfully completed Minnows 1 skills. Must be able to fully submerge their head and be comfortable with water.
Skills: Course works on floating and introduces combined stroke (arms/legs) on both the stomach and back.
Minnows 3
Requirements: Ages 6-7. Must have successfully completed the skills for Minnows 2 or Guppies 3. Must be comfortable with underwater swimming, able to float, and swim 15 yards on stomach and back.
Skills: Class builds on acquired combined stroke on stomach and back. Adds deep water skills, elementary backstroke, and beginning diving skills
Stingrays 1
Requirements: Ages 8-10
Skills: Designed for non-swimmers. Intro to water safety and basic swimming skills. Includes submerging, floating, kicking, bobbing, and alternate arm action.
Stingrays 2
Requirements: Ages 8-10. Must have successfully completed Stingrays 1 skills. Must be able to fully submerge their head and be comfortable with water.
Skills: Course works on floating and introduces combined stroke (arms/legs) on both the stomach and back.
Stingrays 3
Requirements: Ages 8-10. Must have successfully completed the skills for Stingrays 2 or Minnows 2. Must be comfortable with underwater swimming, able to float, and swim 15 yards on stomach and back.

Sharks 1
Requirements: Ages 11-13
Skills: Designed for non-swimmers. Intro to water safety and basic swimming skills. Includes submerging, floating, kicking, bobbing, and alternate arm action.
Sharks 2
Requirements: Ages 11-13. Must have successfully completed Stingrays 1 skills. Must be able to fully submerge their head and be comfortable with water.
Skills: Course works on floating and introduces combined stroke (arms/legs) on both the stomach and back.
Sharks 3
Requirements: Ages 11-13. Must have successfully completed the skills for Sharks 2 or Stingrays 2. Must be comfortable with underwater swimming, able to float, and swim 15 yards on stomach and back.
Skills: Class builds on acquired combined stroke on stomach and back. Adds deep water skills, elementary backstroke, and beginning diving skills.
Sharks 4
Requirements: Ages 11-13. Requirements: Must have successfully completed Sharks 3 skills. Must be able to swim 25 yards (one length of pool) of front crawl and back crawl.
Skills: Refine technique of previous skills. Front and back crawl, elementary backstroke, breaststroke, and sidestroke are emphasized. Also improve diving from a standing position and introduce basic first aid skills.
**Participants are limited to one (1) registration per participant per level and session. Additional program registrations will be refunded, only the initial registration will be honored.
