Beyond the Bell - Weekly Registration 2025-2026 - Beyond the Bell - Registration Beyond the Bell is an after school club for middle school aged teens looking for a safe environment to do homework, make new friends, enjoy various STEM projects while engaging in fun physical activity. Our dependable staff will encourage participants to be creative and innovative thinkers. Participants may be eligible for discounts at select Charles County Recreation events and programs with ongoing Beyond the Bell participation. **Please complete the Beyond the Bell Registration located under Membership prior to registering for the week(s). Love Taekwondo - Love Taekwondo: Ages 6-10 Taught by Master Lynnette Love, a 1988 Olympic Gold Medalist and 8th Dan Grandmaster, who has been teaching since 1984. Students will learn basic kicking, punching and self-defense skills through repetition and will promote through various belts to the ultimate goal of Black Belt. Sparring techniques, kicking targets, and basic forms (pattern to an invisible opponent) are some of the physical elements of Taekwondo. ***Class meets twice a week. Time permitting, one (1) additional make up class maybe included due to a postponement or cancellation initiated by Charles County Recreation.Equipment fee will be collected at the first class. Testing Fees: $55 (up to Jr Red Belts), $70 (Red Belts to Jr Black Belts), $70 Uniform, and $25 T-Shirt fee (Optional).

Planting the Seed - Engnius Kids (Engineering) Jewelry From EarthIn this eco-friendly jewelry-making course, students embark on a creative journey starting with recycled materials to craft environmentally conscious accessories. They will then advance to using polymer clay to design more intricate and customizable pieces. The course culminates in working with resin to create unique and polished items like bracelets, rings, jewelry boxes, and keychains. Along the way, students will explore their artistic potential while learning important sustainable art techniques, emphasizing the use of eco-friendly practices and materials throughout the creative process.Engnius Kids (Engineering)Students interested in engineering and STEM-based activities will have a blast in this class! We'll cover concepts including the engineering design process, engineering as a career, and the growth mindset (plus more!) through project-based activities that students of all ages will love. Each class will have its own challenge that students will need to tackle as a group. We'll focus on creating a safe and comfortable learning environment where students will be encouraged to use critical thinking skills to generate new ideas as solutions. Activities include: marshmallow structures, hovercrafts, and catapults.Working with ClayIn this hands-on course, students will discover the art of working with air-dry clay, exploring the basics of clay tools, textures, and techniques. They’ll create their own unique pieces each session, learning sculpting methods and experimenting with different textures and finishes. Projects include fun and functional items like sculptures, personalized mugs, and more. This class is perfect for young artists looking to express themselves through clay while developing new artistic skills.
